Throughout Friday – culminating in a live show from London on Friday night – £78,082,988 was raised for Comic Relief. This Red Nose Day, generosity and fundraising from people all over Britain helped Comic Relief – which was founded in 1985 – reach over £1 billion in donations over 30 years.
Undoubtedly, Dermot O’Leary’s 24-hour danceathon was one of the highlights of the day. He raised £643,336 by dancing non-stop outside the BBC studios for 24 hours. The show featured sketches by Rowan Atkinson and Dawn French stepping back into their role of Mr Bean and The Vicar of Dibley respectively, as well as James Bond stars Daniel Craig and Sir Roger Moore in a 007 mockumentary. Musical highlights of the night included performances by John Legend and Sam Smith.
Here at Z-CARD®, we promised to pledge 1p per Z-CARD sold in the UK on Red Nose Day, Friday 13th March. We are delighted to announce that we have donated £469.50 to Comic Relief.
