New Year’s Resolutions for Business

The New Year brings with it the opportunity to reinvigorate or maintain goals. It is typical for people to make New Year’s Resolutions in their personal life; Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has decided he will read a new book every other week throughout 2015. Businesses also make New Year’s Resolutions to ensure they are on target for a prosperous 2015.  Here are some of the most popular business resolutions for 2015:

  1. Embrace technology –but don’t hide behind it

Technology influences and enhances nearly all business activities. Keeping on top of new technology and how it is changing the work environment is really important, as this is where you can find opportunities to enhance the way the business works. However, it is vital to remember the importance of social skills and human interactions, and don’t hide behind technology.

  1. Treat your customers as individuals

Personalising experiences and treating customers as individuals, rather than segmenting them was popular in 2014, and even more so for 2015. Identifying your customers’ needs means you can enhance or adapt your product or service to best suit each customer. Certain customers value something specific, such as quality, speed or cost. Identifying this need means you can better tailor your product or service to suit an individual customer.

  1. Set milestones for the year ahead

While having a goal for the year ahead is absolutely essential, it is important to set milestones for getting there. Setting weekly or monthly targets means you can keep on top of the overall goal, and tweak your approach to achieving it when necessary.

  1. Be smart with Social Media

It is unusual to find a business that doesn’t have a social media presence of some sort. The number of social media platforms has erupted in the past year, making it tough for companies to cover them all. In reality, it is not necessary to be active across all platforms. Researching your target audience and discovering the social sites they are active on will allow you to focus your social media efforts in the right places.

The New Year is the perfect time to recommit to previous goals or focus on new goals, both personally and professionally. Good luck with your New Year’s Resolutions!
